As Digger the hognose snake enjoyed a meal this weekend, she showed off a unique bit of snake anatomy. Can you see the hole at the bottom of her mouth? That's called the glottis, and it connects to the trachea. It can move to the side so the snake can still breathe while their mouth is stuffed with food like a mouse. It acts like a meal-time snorkel!
