Leather Jesses

One of my favorite parts of my job is crafting equipment for our birds. Leather jesses, the straps that hang from the birds' anklets, were the first component I learned how to make. I found it fascinating how a button that acts like a stopper could be created with one strip of leather without any glue, staples, or additional materials. It just takes a hole punch, some careful folding, and a little bit of force to thread the leather through.
