One of the first rules in raptor handling is that the bird wants to be at the highest point of the the perch. In the case of education or falconry birds, that perch is the handler's glove.
To offer the most comfort for the bird, I try to maintain my hand parallel to the ground so their feet are comfortably at the same level. But if I need to adjust where they are standing on my hand, I can take advantage of the highest point rule. Here Aldo stepped too close to my wrist so I tipped my hand up briefly to encourage him to step toward my thumb. As soon as he got into a more comfortable position, I leveled my hand once again so he could enjoy his time in the pollinator garden.
