A tree frog sat perched at the top of her branch as if begging for a photo shoot. I willingly obliged as I powered up the macro mode on my camera and took a few shots of her pose. Zooming in, I could see the intricate detail of her eye. The almond-shaped pupil was surrounded by a nearly golden iris with a dark pattern that looked like paint splatter.
The eyes, bulging atop her head, give her a wide field of vision to search out moths, crickets, or mealworms. But my favorite function of these eyes happens after she snags her meal. As she gulps, she pulls her eyes down toward the roof of her mouth where they help push food down her throat!
