With shorter days and decreasing temperatures, all the animals are adjusting their appetites. The birds are acting hungrier than ever as they feel the urge to stock up for winter. The frogs are just the opposite. They sense a change in season - despite being in a temperature-controlled room with lights on timers - and their appetites decrease. Some days a frog eagerly pounces on the offered mealworm. And other days she bats it away, preferring to hunker down in a sleepy, not-quite-dormant state.
