Making it Virtual

I didn't realize how much I missed a group of strangers laughing together when a young audience member guesses ridiculously that a chicken egg could hold 50 pounds without cracking. Or the collective gasp when they see that he was right.


We haven't been able to gather in person for a raptor program this year, but we are finding new ways to connect. Aldo the American Kestrel starred in a virtual raptor program earlier this week where families could meet the charismatic bird and learn about falcon conservation from the comfort of their own homes.


Aldo was as charming as ever.

The last rock. Could this chicken egg hold 35 pounds? Yes! It even held most of my weight when I sat on it!

The mess: evidence that the egg's strength was due to its shell structure, not a concrete filling.
